For 3 - 17 year olds
Bespoke school workshops for native and non-native English speakers aged 3 - 17 years olds.
Prague Youth Theatre School Workshops can take place in-school or at our venue in the centre of Prague. Workshops use theatre to enhance school curricular units; engaging students and teachers in active learning while providing tools for artistic expression, successful group interaction and improved self-confidence.
All classes begin with a physical and vocal warm-up to help students focus and prepare, plus acting games are incorporated throughout the program. As active participants, classroom teachers also gain exposure to proven arts-based teaching techniques for continued use in their classes, which provides a forum for creative and academic expression. The workshops also encourage development of concentration, discipline, teamwork, confidence and public speaking.
We currently run regular weekly and monthly in-school workshop sessions for 3-5 year old pupils at the Panda Learning Center, Happy Child Pre-school and Little Mole International Pre-school.
Other one-off school workshops we have run in the past include -
Deutsche Schule Prag - performance of the PYT Advanced play 'Bassett'.
The Prague British School - supporting Year 7 students in their end of term performance and Year 2 students during literacy week.
Nessie English Preschool - as part of 'Arts Day'.
Park Lane International School - 'Pirate' workshop to support their scheme of work.
Lycée Francais de Prague - Saturday workshop for 'Book Day'.
Gymnázium Nad Stolou - Introduction to Shakespeare.

When preparing for the end of year 7 show, we asked PYT to help students to come out of their shell, to be more expressive on stage. Through different activities and games, students practised a variety of acting techniques which helped them to perform well.
During ISP's 'Week Without Walls' program, Adam's approach was exactly what we were looking for in the sense that he is a theatre professional with experience as an actor and director - yet he is also a teacher who is skilled at structuring sessions that challenge and inspire students of all abilities.
The workshop that PYT ran for us allowed the children to learn about feelings and emotions in a fun and different way. Adam and his team's direction allowed the children to express and enjoy themselves right from the start. This was the first workshop that PYT ran for us but hopefully will not be the last!
